Maybe it’s the Libra in me, but I firmly believe creativity has everything to do with intimacy, and with cultivating and honoring the relationship with the living breathing spirit of our ideas.

And with ourselves.

The moment we stop listening, the rift starts to grow wider. Passion begins to wilt. The Vision deserts us. The Muses forsake us.

Like lovers drifting apart and away from one another.

Lack of excitement / motivation / emotional investment is usually a telltale sign that something needs to be either repaired or released.

Absence of desire warrants re-alignment.

When you’re not moving towards something you WANT, you’re wandering aimlessly.

I realize this current iteration of me is probably for a very limited number of people and that’s okay.

I salute those who have their feet firmly planted on both sides of the line. The Underworld and the Empyrean.

People who are in the gutter looking at the stars.

Those who make art as a way of fighting back & those who are doing it for themselves & those who are doing it for their legacy.

Those who create as a way of creating or re-creating or rebuilding themselves after something almost broke them.

I’m intensely lunar, intensely Venusian, intensely Martian, intensely Neptunian, intensely fucking INTENSE. My patron deities are the epitomes of death, witchcraft and power, I wrestle with my personal demons on a regular basis, some parts of me grew sharper and others became impossibly soft.

I make music that is relatively loud and aggressive because I know what happens when I don’t and I’m not going there ever again. And in spite of this, I can be one of the warmest people you’ll ever meet. And if I love and *trust* you, I’ll go to war for you. (I’m Italian. 😏 We’re hot-blooded like that. 🌶)

Astrologically speaking, I’d chalk comparisonitis up to lack of essential dignity in one’s chart. Which, much like comparison itself, isn’t inherently bad. Planets lacking in essential dignity think of themselves as under-resourced, and this can translate to a chronic feeling of inhibition, mistrust and yes, shame.

Alchemizing shame and desire into purpose is part of the work I do with my 1:1 clients— we deepen into self-knowledge. We work on claiming repressed desires. We use astrology and Tarot to unlock the untapped creative potential. ⚡️

This is me trying to look cool for the camera in 2007 or maybe 2008. I was in the process of making a very lo-fi sounding Ep/demo (I was the singer and bass player in the band) and it seemed logical to document this rite of passage of sorts with some crappy low-res band shots.

I’ve been a very angry child and then a very angry teenager and then a very angry twenty-something. A human ticking time bomb. You looked at me funny and I would fucking snap. I was sort of popular but also impossible to deal with. I thought I wouldn’t make it past 30. Every single beautiful thing I’d come across, I’d ruin it.

As a kid, I got into music because I had no friends and I was never allowed to have people come over to visit. I was hardly ever allowed to go out or do anything, really. Then I got my first guitar. I started screaming. I bought myself a cheap Fender Precision knockoff with my first paycheck right after graduating high school.

I started playing music because I wanted to be somebody. Music gave me a sense of purpose. My big scary rage had somewhere to go. I didn’t know it yet but what I wanted was to build some kind of legacy. To build something for myself. To be allowed to make a decision and have it matter. To end up somewhere different than where I seemed to be headed. The ruler of my Tenth House/Midheaven is the only dignified planet in my chart. It happens to rule my Fifth House of creativity as well.

This is the only thing that never failed me even though I did fail my dreams multiple times (I always talk about being in sound engineering school, funded by perhaps the only member of my family who ever gave a shit about me, but what I normally omit is that I didn’t pass my finals because I was in a bottomless pit and almost got involuntarily committed, AGAIN. I also turned down paid opportunities for playing live/touring as a support vocalist because I didn’t believe in myself and I thought people who believed in me were fools.)

Today’s meme dump featuring what is possibly my favorite sculpture to ever exist (the Ecstasy of Saint Teresa by Gian Lorenzo Bernini) is basically a semi-serious rumination on my inability to separate lüst from love from religion from my own creative urges. ⚔️🌹🔥

According to most people this is less than ideal. Personally? This is me, I own it, it makes me feel powerful and I’m never short of things to write or sing about. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also I happen to have a Sun/Vesta conjunction in Libra, Neptune aspecting nearly everything else in my chart and Mars as my most elevated/dignified planet, so it’s not like I can help it, either. 😌

The reason why creating can bring up so many fears around being rejected, judged, misunderstood and being exposed as a fraud is that once you start deepening in self-intimacy, it gets harder to repress and deny your desires.

And what most of us who were deprived of our agency and power want— what we deeply yearn, as individuals who were once made to feel small and invisible— is feeling like the heroes of our own quest.

Free to decide and do life on our own terms.

It’s only natural.

It’s only human.

And still, an awakened desire is a hunger that never subsides.

SWIPE ⏭ if you want to hear some snippets of the songs I’m working on + a few oldies. Most of these I’ve only shared in my close friends stories, but today I felt like making them public. 🌹⚔️

It was never about the finished thing for me. The finished song, the finished picture, the finished short story.

The truth is that I get off on being an artist, because my inner artist is hot. She’s got the bite force of a mastiff. She plays in the same way she fücks. You can’t tell her shit.

My artist self is my next level self and I would be lost without her. 🌹⚔️

I write songs because that’s how I know I exist as a person. You take music from me? I vanish against the background of whatever room I’m in.

Music helped me carving my own self-concept while I was growing up in an abusive, emotionally enmeshed household.

Then, when I became known as the odd nerdy kid from a poor family whose father was never around, which for some reason made some of my peers want to be cruel towards me, it was still music, and alternative subcultures specifically, that gave me the language and the tools to own the fück out of my other-ness and make it my armor.

This was way before I knew about my Mars as the ruler of my natal Fifth House, being placed in its domicile sign of Aries, in my Tenth House— one of the most dynamic and visible houses of the nativity.

Your chart is the synopsis of the narrative your body knows by heart. 🌹⚔️

I might not always have the confidence and boldness of my hot artist self because I’m Moon-ruled and moody as hell, but I have astrology and I know how the story ends because I’m the co-author.

I get to fulfill my Fate— create my art; create myself in the process— and pass the torch. 🔥

Maybe it’s the Libra in me, but I firmly believe creativity has everything to do with intimacy, and with cultivating and honoring the relationship with the living breathing spirit of our ideas.

And with ourselves.

The moment we stop listening, the rift starts to grow wider. Passion begins to wilt. The Vision deserts us. The Muses forsake us.

Like lovers drifting apart and away from one another.

And just like any relationship, the one we have with our ideas needs to be tended to. It requires us to be present. To be honest. To open wide and let truth rearrange our guts.

(Figuratively, that is. 😏)

Lack of excitement / motivation / emotional investment is usually a telltale sign that something needs to be either repaired or released.

Absence of desire warrants re-alignment.

When you’re not moving towards something you WANT, you’re wandering aimlessly.

Your nativity can yield tremendous insight into what makes you tick, what moves you, what sets your heart on fire.

I realize this current iteration of me is probably for a very limited number of people and that’s okay.

I salute those who have their feet firmly planted on both sides of the line. The Underworld and the Empyrean.

People who are in the gutter looking at the stars.

Those who make art as a way of fighting back & those who are doing it for themselves & those who are doing it for their legacy.

Those who create as a way of creating or re-creating or rebuilding themselves after something almost broke them.

I’m intensely lunar, intensely Venusian, intensely Martian, intensely Neptunian, intensely fucking INTENSE. My patron deities are the epitomes of death, witchcraft and power, I wrestle with my personal demons on a regular basis, some parts of me grew sharper and others became impossibly soft.

I make music that is relatively loud and aggressive because I know what happens when I don’t and I’m not going there ever again. And in spite of this, I can be one of the warmest people you’ll ever meet. And if I love and *trust* you, I’ll go to war for you. (I’m Italian. 😏 We’re hot-blooded like that. 🌶)

I’m for those who are not ashamed of the multitudes they contain.

I’m for you, in a major way, if your artistry is something you take seriously, at least. If you know that making art is very rarely about art alone.
