❤️‍🔥DESIRE COMES FROM THE STARS ❤️‍ ❤️‍🔥DESIRE COMES FROM THE STARS ❤️‍🔥 Etymologically speaking, desire comes from the very same sidereal heights Astrology has been in conversation with throughout the millennia. Yet our world doesn’t hold space for its multifarious nuances. For its mystery. Its sanctity. As soon as desire grazes the Earth, we maim it, stifle it, banish it into oblivion. We’re quick to label, and, often, berate desire, because desire evades rigid, binary, either/or thinking — it’s either capitalism instigating ephemeral urges to sell us the quick fix, or those spiritual narratives that describe our desire nature as the preposterous symptom of a quenchless, unhallowed greed. Desire is somewhere in-between, above, beyond, elusive, yet undeniable. Human yet celestial. “Desiderare”, the Latin verb this term descends from, is derived from “de sidere”, which means “from the stars”. Perhaps, the truth is that our desires have a way of luring us into that liminal interstice that separates us from everything that, deep down in our hearts, we strive to be. And that can be frightening. Contrarily to what we’re often told, I believe that becoming comfortable with our desires — knowing them, owning them, claiming them — is how we get our wings. And I believe because I saw. Because I’ve been wingless and downtrodden. I believe that allowing ourselves to, at the very least, explore those desires is something that unravels us in the best way. And amidst those crevices, those folds of a once atrophied soul, are all the bits and pieces and fragments of ourselves that we’ve been aching to call back home, all along. Desires come from a place beyond us. Those desires so enduring and deep-seated they feel like lifelong companions are our daimons, our psychopomps, guiding our steps towards the place where we belong — where we can finally feel we belong. 🍂Humid, humus-scented, chilly and foreboding — Scorpio season lays its threadbare, livid mantle on us, a shroud thin just as the veil that separates our world from the next. 🍂 The forest canopy becomes sparse as leaves cascade to the ground, where their auburn shades will tarnish as they break down into inky, spongy humus. Shedding and composting so that the permanent structure of the soil can be improved is quintessential Scorpio medicine. At the core of Scorpio’s reverence of death is an undying, unyielding eagerness for preservation. An intimate awareness of decay as a crucial, imperative stage of the unraveling of life. Scorpio is Mars’ nocturnal domicile, after all. And as someone with a dignified, angular Mars that is being activated by profection — a Mars that carried me when all in me wanted to give up, a Mars that prodded me along when I was ready to stop by the wayside — I can state without a shade of doubt that what Mars wants is to forge ahead, at any cost. Yet, self-preservation and forward momentum are only possible insofar as we acknowledge that which is unseen and honour death and decay in all of their nutrimental munificence — from the departed who are still lingering on the other side of the veil, to the unseen intelligences that animate plants, animals and the very soil upon which we tread. The veil thins so we can remember. The veil thins so we can honour the incorporeal life that feeds the roots of our organic existence. The veil thins so that everything the unseen has touched, can be transformed, in the name of perpetuity. The sky is still ablaze with the fiery halo of the The sky is still ablaze with the fiery halo of the Full Moon that lit up the 27th degree of Aries, a couple hours ago. A bonfire of a Moon in the midst of Fall. A fevered thrust — a whirlwind of rage and love melting the cold. Bridges. Defenses. Shackles. Self-imposed limitations. Give me all that has to give so you can be, whispers the fire. Let them burn so that the smoldering cinder of your will can ignite once more. Aries is ruled by Mars and Mars is currently dancing its way out of exile in the sign of Libra, caught in the undiscerning pangs of combustion. The opposition is like a mirror, held up before our eyes, truthful and unsparing — the sight of what’s behind and all around a constant reminder of the impact of our own actions, or lack thereof. Somewhere, somehow, somebody is hoping and praying for the trail that we are blazing to finally become an open road. There is a domino effect quality to the endings, culminations and epiphanies sparked by this Full Moon. And there is sacred, generative destruction, too. Pluto, the shadowy master of the Underworld, keeper of covert treasures, feeds the pyre of this Full Moon; there’s no fire without fuel. There’s no survival without catharsis. It’s either us or the things that have a hold on us. Call it a Chtonic intervention, if you will. The lighter the load, the higher you’ll rise from the flames. 🌿 It’s still quiet, here, at the edge of the 🌿 It’s still quiet, here, at the edge of the world, but it won’t be for long. As both Mercury and Jupiter station direct (at 10 degrees Libra and 22 degrees Aquarius, respectively), faint echoes from afar start pulling us back towards the center. The directions gradually become clear and intelligible. What to do with the hard-won scraps of raw personal truth that we clutch in our hands. How to tip the scales back into balance. How much of our heart and Soul to spill on that golden plate — how much to give, how to receive, how to bring levity and laughter to places where we used to cry. Where to go from here. The road ahead might still be bumpy and unclear, and, with Mercury still in their post-Retrograde shadow for a couple weeks, our gait is still wobbly and unsteady, but it’s a start. Praise the doubt and the wavering for they gave birth to symmetry. Mercury stationed Retrograde on September 27 and is currently applying to a sextile to Venus in Sagittarius as they resume forward motion; Jupiter began its backspin through the Zodiac much earlier, on June 20 of this year, back when the Lord of Plenty was still wading through the native waters of Pisces (Jupiter re-entered Aquarius on July 28). A cursory yet timely trine to Mars in Libra adds momentum and pungency to the Greater Benefic’s turnaround. Like wind in our sails. You’ve been there too, haven’t you. That cruc You’ve been there too, haven’t you. That crucial conjuncture when our desire nature gets conflated with emotional immaturity. Often, growing up. Mostly, by caregivers, parents, teachers. Relinquishing our wants and needs is the quintessential rite of passage that ushers us into adulthood. Welcome to the real world, where you can’t (always) get what you want. Actually, as a matter of fact, the willingness to disown our own desires is the ultimate marker of a functioning adult. Be a martyr. Swallow your own heart. And if want you must, strive for instant gratification at best. Something that soothes the burn without setting you free. We’re told we need be realistic. That resignation is the pinnacle of realism. Leave your Soul to rot. Bury it underneath the weight of everything you are supposed to be. Most of all, make sure you never, ever pause to think about what is happening to your heart while you let your desires wither away. Except that hearts cannot be tamed. They ache. Burn. Scream. The truth is, there is nothing inherently noble about splitting ourselves in two— the part of us that has wants, wishes and dreams, and the one tasked with stoically enduring the world as a wise, respectable, well-adjusted member of society. I think it’s time to summon the Muse of desire and ask her to introduce us to the stranger who lives within. The one we buried. The one who yearns and pines and wants and knows the way to our self-actualization. I think it’s about time to bring more aliveness to this world and allow our desires to fertilize the garden of our Soul. My next offering is a testament to this mission. And it’s dropping this month. Prompt n. 5 of @captolia.online #clientcovenchalle Prompt n. 5 of @captolia.online #clientcovenchallenge entails providing insight into our brand/personality through the use of celebs as examples, and I wasn’t sure I was going to do it at first, because as much as pop culture fascinates me from a purely sociological standpoint — I do have Cultural Anthropology as my background, after all— I have no emotional attachment to it whatsoever or find it personally relatable in any way. Then it dawned on me— the fact that I’m not the biggest celebrity culture fan doesn’t mean that there aren’t public figures— artists and fictional characters, mostly— in whom I can see pieces and fragments of my own personality reflected back at me. I tried to include a bunch of them into this slideshow — hopefully it will serve as a window into my world, which is haunted and enchanted in equal measure. I have dreams. I have ghosts. I’m painfully sensitive yet feisty. My inner life is so vivid and intense it sometimes swallows me whole. I am a believer in some regards and an agnostic in others. I am loving and I am angry. I oscillate between faith and despair a lot, and often. A walking contradiction, basically, who loves to help other equally complex human beings find their bearings in a world that is *also* inordinately complex. On several occasions throughout the year, due to t On several occasions throughout the year, due to the frequency of its retrograde cycles, Mercury, the liminal One, willfully becomes One with glistening, invigorative Sol. This condition, technically a very tight conjunction — within 15 minutes, is known as Cazimi, the Latin transliteration of an Arabic term meaning “in the heart of the Sun”. For Mercury, as it’s the case with any other planet, the way to the Heart of the Sun is through the sightless pilgrimage of combustion — a planet is combust when it’s transiting within 14 degrees on either side of the Sun; combustion renders a planet unable to see, which, when it comes to our human experience here on Earth, often translates into a feeling of discombobulation — like proceeding tentatively through uncharted territory. The Cazimi, however, is a purification. A baptism of sorts. In the Heart of the Sun, the planet of speech and intellect is cleansed, regenerated and reborn anew. The veil drops. Clarity ensues. Think of the process of melting sand into glass — scorching heat changing the molecular structure of tiny, scattered grains into something entirely different. An amorphous solid, pellucid, transparent— a lifelike replica of the shapes and colors that lay on the other side. Mercury is Cazimi right now, as we speak, conjoining the Sun in Libra. The limpidity of this union marks a turning point in the current Retrograde journey of the cosmic shapeshifter— an intellectual reset of sorts. A moment of realization around the things, experiences and dynamics that we are being called to revisit. A wake up call for when we realize we can no longer see the forest for the trees. Beauty and ferocity entwine in the dark of the New Beauty and ferocity entwine in the dark of the New Moon in Libra — a sign known for its proclivity to make artistry out of every contrast. Biblical visions of bushes set on fire yet not consumed by flames whirl in the eye of my mind. Mars, co-present with the two luminaries (and with Mercury, currently Retrograde) in the sign of the scales, is the spark and the source of ignition of this flammable concoction. Still, Mars in the sign of its exile is hardly a roaring furnace. Exiled Mars is more like smoldering embers — entrancingly glowing neon red underneath a pearly cloak of ashes. Tempered, yet only seemingly innocuous. With Pluto, lord of the Underworld, also stationing direct at the time of this New Moon, the friction between delicacy and ruin is almost palpable. There’s Beauty to be made, and to be found, but Beauty is not defined by the mere absence of frightfulness. The sky is still ablaze with the fiery halo of the The sky is still ablaze with the fiery halo of the Full Moon that lit up the 27th degree of Aries, a couple hours ago. A bonfire of a Moon in the midst of Fall. A fevered thrust — a whirlwind of rage and love melting the cold. Bridges. Defenses. Shackles. Self-imposed limitations. Give me all that has to give so you can be, whispers the fire. Let them burn so that the smoldering cinder of your will can ignite once more. Aries is ruled by Mars and Mars is currently dancing its way out of exile in the sign of Libra, caught in the undiscerning pangs of combustion. The opposition is like a mirror, held up before our eyes, truthful and unsparing — the sight of what’s behind and all around a constant reminder of the impact of our own actions, or lack thereof. Somewhere, somehow, somebody is hoping and praying for the trail that we are blazing to finally become an open road. There is a domino effect quality to the endings, culminations and epiphanies sparked by this Full Moon. And there is sacred, generative destruction, too. Pluto, the shadowy master of the Underworld, keeper of covert treasures, feeds the pyre of this Full Moon; there’s no fire without fuel. There’s no survival without catharsis. It’s either us or the things that have a hold on us. Call it a Chtonic intervention, if you will. The lighter the load, the higher you’ll rise from the flames. 🌿 It’s still quiet, here, at the edge of the 🌿 It’s still quiet, here, at the edge of the world, but it won’t be for long. As both Mercury and Jupiter station direct (at 10 degrees Libra and 22 degrees Aquarius, respectively), faint echoes from afar start pulling us back towards the center. The directions gradually become clear and intelligible. What to do with the hard-won scraps of raw personal truth that we clutch in our hands. How to tip the scales back into balance. How much of our heart and Soul to spill on that golden plate — how much to give, how to receive, how to bring levity and laughter to places where we used to cry. Where to go from here. The road ahead might still be bumpy and unclear, and, with Mercury still in their post-Retrograde shadow for a couple weeks, our gait is still wobbly and unsteady, but it’s a start. Praise the doubt and the wavering for they gave birth to symmetry. Mercury stationed Retrograde on September 27 and is currently applying to a sextile to Venus in Sagittarius as they resume forward motion; Jupiter began its backspin through the Zodiac much earlier, on June 20 of this year, back when the Lord of Plenty was still wading through the native waters of Pisces (Jupiter re-entered Aquarius on July 28). A cursory yet timely trine to Mars in Libra adds momentum and pungency to the Greater Benefic’s turnaround. Like wind in our sails. Jupiter will leave Aquarius for good, with a triumphant entrance in the waters of its nocturnal domicile on December 29, 2021. #witchandfamous #astrologersofinstagram
You’ve been there too, haven’t you. That cruc You’ve been there too, haven’t you. That crucial conjuncture when our desire nature gets conflated with emotional immaturity. Often, growing up. Mostly, by caregivers, parents, teachers. Relinquishing our wants and needs is the quintessential rite of passage that ushers us into adulthood. Welcome to the real world, where you can’t (always) get what you want. Actually, as a matter of fact, the willingness to disown our own desires is the ultimate marker of a functioning adult. Be a martyr. Swallow your own heart. And if want you must, strive for instant gratification at best. Something that soothes the burn without setting you free. We’re told we need be realistic. That resignation is the pinnacle of realism. Leave your Soul to rot. Bury it underneath the weight of everything you are supposed to be. Most of all, make sure you never, ever pause to think about what is happening to your heart while you let your desires wither away. Except that hearts cannot be tamed. They ache. Burn. Scream. The truth is, there is nothing inherently noble about splitting ourselves in two— the part of us that has wants, wishes and dreams, and the one tasked with stoically enduring the world as a wise, respectable, well-adjusted member of society. I think it’s time to summon the Muse of desire and ask her to introduce us to the stranger who lives within. The one we buried. The one who yearns and pines and wants and knows the way to our self-actualization. I think it’s about time to bring more aliveness to this world and allow our desires to fertilize the garden of our Soul. My next offering is a testament to this mission. And it’s dropping this month. Prompt n. 5 of @captolia.online #clientcovenchalle Prompt n. 5 of @captolia.online #clientcovenchallenge entails providing insight into our brand/personality through the use of celebs as examples, and I wasn’t sure I was going to do it at first, because as much as pop culture fascinates me from a purely sociological standpoint — I do have Cultural Anthropology as my background, after all— I have no emotional attachment to it whatsoever or find it personally relatable in any way. Then it dawned on me— the fact that I’m not the biggest celebrity culture fan doesn’t mean that there aren’t public figures— artists and fictional characters, mostly— in whom I can see pieces and fragments of my own personality reflected back at me. I tried to include a bunch of them into this slideshow — hopefully it will serve as a window into my world, which is haunted and enchanted in equal measure. I have dreams. I have ghosts. I’m painfully sensitive yet feisty. My inner life is so vivid and intense it sometimes swallows me whole. I am a believer in some regards and an agnostic in others. I am loving and I am angry. I oscillate between faith and despair a lot, and often. A walking contradiction, basically, who loves to help other equally complex human beings find their bearings in a world that is *also* inordinately complex.
